An Unremarkable Body by Elisa Lodato
Elisa Lodato tells the story of Laura whose mother, Katherine, is killed in a household accident.
Rather than focus on how Katherine died, the story centres on Laura as she uncovers the secrets her mother was hiding while alive. Each chapter is structured around statements taken from Katherine’s autopsy report which trigger memories in Laura and lead her to re-examine what she knew about her parent’s marriage. These seemingly ‘nothing’ observations slowly uncovered Katherine’s life, and created a gripping book that was hard to put down. Elisa Lodato is a fantastic new author and I look forward to seeing what she writes next.
