Traffic Light - Orange
What to expect when you visit the Library during the Orange setting.
With Nelson under the Orange setting of the COVID-19 Protection Framework here’s how we’ll be operating our services:
From Monday 6 December, visitors to Nelson’s Public Libraries will now require a Vaccine Pass for entry at all times.
Incident Management Team Leader Alec Louverdis said Council wanted to achieve a balance of keeping its facilities open to as many people as possible, while still protecting the health of staff and the public.
“We are mindful of having a safe environment, both for staff and visitors, and we have received feedback from many library users that they feel unsafe in places where they may come into contact with people who have chosen not to have the vaccine. “
We understand this is a challenging time for our community and want to share what it means for you as a library user. The following guide applies to all three Nelson Public Libraries – Elma Turner, Stoke and Nightingale.
Any changes to this setting will mean a change for our services, and this will be communicated at that time.
Vaccine Passes are required for those aged 12 and over to enter any of our libraries, access core services, attend events, programmes, and classes. If you are visiting one of our libraries, from 6 December 2021 you'll be asked to:
- Show you are fully vaccinated by allowing your My Vaccine Pass to be scanned by our staff.
- Scan in using the NZ Covid Tracer QR code or writing down your details on a contact tracer form.
- Observe 1-metre distancing when visiting our library spaces.
Exceptions can be made for those requiring assistance to download their My Vaccine Pass.
Contact tracing is mandatory for visitors 12-years and over. We provide both electronic and manual contact tracing options at each of our entrance ways.
Mask wearing is mandatory for both staff and for visitors 12-years and over, unless you have an exemption.
These spaces are available for booking provided you run your event or meeting with My Vaccine Pass requirements.
