Sunshine Noir - Mystery in the Library

The Ngaio Marsh Awards, in association with Nelson Public Libraries, invites Top of the South booklovers to a thrilling event with three terrific New Zealand writers who have a talent for crime and mystery. To whet the appetite for the main event, Rose Carlyle and Nalini Singh are hosting writing workshops for crafting the perfect . . book.

The Magic of Self-Editing with Rose Carlyle

Learn how to polish your writing into publishable form. This workshop covers developmental editing, copyediting and proofreading. Suitable for beginner and intermediate writers.

Writing a Novella with Nalini Singh

Novellas are extremely versatile - they can be used to introduce a new series, tell the stories of secondary characters from established series, give your readers a bite-sized read between longer releases...and more. This workshop will talk about how to write a full story within the novella format. Because a good novella isn't simply a long short story, or a squished down and heavily edited novel. A novella is its own form. Suitable for writers at all stages of their writing journey.

Friday 11 June
Greenmeadows Community Centre

Mystery at the Library

Multiple New York Times bestseller Nalini Singh is joined by #1 bestseller Rose Carlyle and local Nelson author and NZ Booklovers Award finalist Chris Stuart. The trio will discuss how they craft page-whirring tales full of memorable characters, and incorporate real-life themes into their books.

Saturday 12 June
