Aftermaths - A Wanhalla et al., editors.
This book is a collection of essays about colonialism, violence and memory in Australia, New Zealand and the Pacific. Not light reading, but provides a good overview of some of the atrocities and discrimination inflicted on the indigenous peoples of these countries. It provides some good insights into what occurred in the name of colonialism. It is history that we need to be aware of in order to understand issues of dispute between Māori and Pakeha today.
Buried Deep and other stories - Naomi Novik
A good mix of short stories with a fantasy theme and excellent plot twists.
Mad Mabel - Sally Hepworth
I absolutely loved this book and could not put it down! So many moments I just did not expect. I really liked how it switched between the two timelines seamlessly. Cannot recommend this book enough!
