Nelson Seed Library Welcomes the new Seeds back and Seeds Savers

Celebrate the return of our Seed Library treasures, featuring seeds for vegetables, flowers, fruits, herbs, and even a selection of shrubs and trees.
Discover what local gardeners and seed savers have been growing and sharing, and gain inspiration for your own garden, whether you're just starting out or have years of experience.
Enjoy a short introduction to the Nelson Seed Library, along with practical tips on growing plants from seed and saving seeds for the future.

Beginner Sewing
Monday 7 September 12.30pm - 2.30pm
Give old fabric a new life in this fun, beginner-friendly sewing workshop.
Learn basic sewing skills while creating a plant pot cover or storage bin. No sewing experience is necessary, and all materials are supplied. However, you're welcome to bring your own fabric if you'd like to personalise your project.

Ink Play
Tuesday 8 September 1.30pm - 3pm
A class to explore making a variety of marks with black ink on paper using different types of brushes, including Chinese style pointed brushes.
We will start with a quick Chi Gong warm up to loosen up followed by some Enso circle and Tikle mark making practise.
There will also be a variety of other materials, including tree branches/feathers etc, to experiment with.
All materials including paper supplied.

PaperPlay - A Mindful Collage

Join us for a playful collage session where the goal is to have fun, try something new and, last but not least, to forget all about your to-do list!
No experience required. Materials and various sources of inspiration are provided, but you are welcome to bring any printed treasures you have been saving for a rainy collage day.

Cricut Basics for Beginners

Curious about Cricut but not sure where to start?
Join us for a hands-on beginner workshop where you'll learn the basics of Cricut Design Space and create your own custom bookmark(s) to take home. No prior experience is needed. Non-essential, but please bring your own laptop or tablet with the free Cricut Design Space already installed. But if you need help with this, we’ll happily guide you through the steps on the day.

Bamby - 3D Printing Demo

Come have a look at our brand-new 3D printer Bamby, our 3D printing expert Joshua will be on hand to talk you through the ins and out of 3D printing from model selection or creation to finished printed model. Explore the mysteries of slicing, layers and 3D modelling. Watch a model rise from the build plate!
Dungeons and Dragons for Adults

Join us for Dungeons and Dragons taster session to try out the OG TTRPG! Choose from one of our pre-prepared heroes or create your own prior to the session and get ready for two and a half hours of adventuring!

Japanese Calligraphy with Akiko Crowther

Join us for a calming and creative Japanese calligraphy workshop with Master Calligrapher Akiko Crowther.
Originally from Japan, Akiko has studied traditional calligraphy since the age of five and attained Master Calligrapher status in 2004. A familiar face to many in the community, she has inspired people across Aotearoa through her passion and enjoyed sharing this beautiful art form. She brings a warm, encouraging teaching style that welcomes beginners and those with some experience alike.
In this hands-on session, you'll learn the basics of brush control, stroke order, and the expressive flow that gives each character its beauty and meaning. Create your own piece to take home and experience the mindful rhythm of ink on paper.
No experience is needed—just bring your curiosity and willingness to give it a go.
